ROBERT SCHOTTENSTEIN – Cohesion Foundation Trustee

Robert Schottenstein is Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and President of M/I Homes, Inc., a public company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NSYE) and one of the largest homebuilders in the United States. Since its founding in 1976, M/I Homes has sold nearly 150,000 homes and has established an exemplary reputation based on a strong commitment to superior customer service, quality construction, premier locations and building a better home. For many years, Robert has been active in a number of business and charitable organizations. He currently serves on the Board of BBW, Inc., one of the world’s leading specialty retailers focused on personal care, beauty and home fragrance categories. He also serves on the Executive Committee and is Vice Chair of The Policy Advisory Board of Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies, is a member of the Pelotonia Board, a member of The Columbus Partnership, serves on the One Columbus Board, is a member of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Board, serves on The Ohio State University Foundation Board, and is a member of the board of Jewish Federation of North America, as well as the board of JewishColumbus.

From 2005-2014, Robert served as a Trustee of The Ohio State University and was Chairman of the Ohio State University Board from 2012-2014. He previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of Installed Building Products, Inc., a member of the Board of Directors of Huntington Bancshares, Inc., the boards of The Columbus Jewish Federation (served as Board Chair from 2002 to 2004), Ohio Dominican University, Columbus School for Girls, Columbus Torah Academy (served as Board Chair from 1985 to 1989), Ballet Met of Columbus, and was a member of the United Jewish Appeal National Young Leadership Cabinet. In 2002, Robert received the Central Ohio Building Industry Association “Builder of the Year Award”. In 2008, he was named national “Executive of The Year” for the homebuilding industry by Builder Magazine. In 2009, Robert received an Honorary Degree, Doctor of Humane Letters, from Ohio Dominican University; and in 2011, he received an Honorary Degree, Doctor of Laws, from Capital University Law School.

Robert received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and J.D. from Capital University Law School.

Robert’s tireless service and depth of influence across many industries and organizations made him a welcomed addition to the Cohesion Foundation Board.
